ABOUT OUR SOCIAL ACTIVITIES
Southern Befrienders organises a range of fun, interesting social activities every week. This includes lunches, chippy suppers, film afternoons, bingo, lunches at local restaurants and pubs and trips to places of interest. The social events are hosted by our experienced Social Events Coordinator who is supported by volunteer helpers.
Who can attend the social events?
- Our social events are for members, to become a member please fill out our member form here, but younger people who are accompanying the older person or the older person’s carer or spouse are also welcome.
- We cannot provide personal care or one-to-one support at social events, if this is required a carer must be in attendance.
- We cannot guarantee to provide transport to/from social events and encourage car share.
What is the referral process and how to become a member, next steps?
- Anyone can make a referral to the service. People can even refer themselves.
- You can find the member form here
- Once a referral is accepted by Southern Befrienders, the older person (now known as a ‘member’) will receive a copy of the latest social events programme
- The member can then add their name to the list of attendees for the events in which they are interested
